Job summary

Cisco Systems is seeking a senior thermal engineer to develop thermal solutions for high‑power ASIC systems and dense optical transceivers. You will lead CFD studies, validate models with physical testing, and mentor other engineers in a fast‑paced hardware team in San Jose.

Role requires advanced degree and substantial experience in electronic thermal design, with hands‑on expertise in Flotherm/Icepak and Creo/NX for 3D modeling. Onsite four days per week in San Jose.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical or Thermal Eng with 12+ years, or Master's with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years.
• 5+ years in design, simulation, and testing of thermal solutions for electronic devices/systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop thermal solutions for high-power ASICs and high-density transceivers.
• Run CFD/thermal simulations for package, board, and system levels.
• Collaborate with engineers on system architectures and cooling.
• Conduct thermal testing (airflow, acoustics, thermocouples) to validate models.
• Lead and mentor other thermal engineers.
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify risks and tradeoffs.
• Develop test plans and present simulation reports to teams.
