Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Staff Thermal Systems Engineer to shape the future of data center cooling technology. You will own the complete product lifecycle, leading cross-functional teams and translating emerging technologies into certified, manufacturable solutions.

This role is based in New Freedom, PA, with relocation assistance available for qualified candidates. You will mentor engineers, influence development processes, and drive product performance, quality, and cost.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
8+ years in released thermal products or systems.
Cross-domain knowledge across thermal, controls, electrical systems.
Ability to mentor Senior and Principal Engineers.
Commercial HVAC experience, preferably with chillers.

Responsibilities

Lead long-range planning for thermal product families and systems.
Own product family architecture and platform commonality.
Define and coordinate product specifications and manufacturing guidelines.
May supervise a team of 4-7 engineers plus technicians.
Define certification strategy (UL, CE/PED, ASME) for global access.
Serve as the final technical escalation point for production, field, and warranty issues.
