Exponent seeks a Principal Engineer for the Thermal Sciences Practice in Tampa, FL, and other US locations. This full-time role applies fundamental engineering to failure analysis, risk mitigation, and product development, leading multidisciplinary teams and cultivating client relationships.

The position requires a Ph.D. or MS in a relevant field, Professional Engineer licensure, and 10+ years of technical consulting experience, including expert witnessing.

Qualifications

• Requires Ph.D. or Master's in Chemical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Petroleum, Fire Protection or related field.
• PE licensure required; legal work authorization in the US.
• 10+ years of relevant technical consulting experience in fires, product safety, process safety etc.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects for failure analysis, root cause investigations, product development and expert witness engagements.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with other technical disciplines.
• Plan and execute testing programs and perform engineering calculations and analyses.
• Prepare written reports, proposals and presentations; travel likely.
