Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Thermal Sciences Practice to lead failure analyses, root-cause investigations, and product development for diverse clients. The role involves cultivating client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and guiding multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations.

Required qualifications include a Ph.D. or Master's in engineering, PE licensure, 10+ years of consulting experience, and proven ability to testify as an expert witness.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Chemical/Mechanical/Aerospace/Petroleum/Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant technical consulting experience in fires, explosions, product safety, process safety and risk assessment.
• Prior experience testifying as an expert witness is required.
• Professional Engineer licensure is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects for failure analysis, root-cause investigations, product development and expert witness engagements.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with other technical experts.
• Plan and execute testing programs and perform calculations/analyses.
