Job summary

Exponent, Inc. seeks a Senior Manager/Senior Managing Engineer for its Thermal Sciences Practice in Menlo Park, CA. Apply engineering and scientific techniques to failure analysis, risk mitigation, and product development while cultivating client relationships and pursuing new business opportunities.

Role requires leadership of multidisciplinary teams, 7+ years of consulting in process safety, decarbonization, or fire protection, and a Ph.D. or M.S.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Presently legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required.
• 7+ years of relevant consulting experience in process safety, decarbonization, and/or fire protection engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) Licensure, or ability to obtain a P.E. License
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to gather information from, and convey technical conclusions to, diverse stakeholders (engineering, legal, business)
• Proven track record conducting hazard identification and analysis studies and incident investigations

Responsibilities

• Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with experts across disciplines
• Manage projects and build client relationships
• Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and laboratory tasks
• Plan and execute testing programs and prepare reports and proposals
• Travel domestically and internationally as required
• Communicate technical conclusions to diverse audiences
