Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer for its Power global practice. The role centers on thermal performance modeling for natural gas-fired generation and other power technologies, using EBSILON Professional and related tools.

You will develop heat balances, equipment performance datasheets, and performance guarantees, while mentoring engineers, supporting client meetings, and contributing to project execution. Travel up to 10–25% is expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in mechanical/chemical engineering or FE completion substituted for one year of experience.
• Minimum 5 years related thermal performance modeling experience.
• 7 years mechanical/process experience in Power generation preferred.
• PE license preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create and evaluate thermal performance models using EBSILON Professional.
• Develop heat balance diagrams for internal/external use.
• Develop performance guarantees and evaluate margins/liquids for damages.
• Create plant performance datasheets and design summaries for equipment bids and design.
• Support technology assessments and pinch point analyses for plant upgrades.
• Draft testing specifications and help oversee performance tests.
