Job summary

TerraPower in Bellevue, WA, seeks a Senior Engineer, Thermal Hydraulic Test, to design and conduct tests supporting analytic studies for the Natrium Demonstration Plant. The role includes planning, execution, document review, and interaction with vendors, with emphasis on safety and robust analysis.

The candidate should have a Master’s in engineering, 3+ years in a lab/R&D setting, and strong writing skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering or related field.
• +3 years of relevant experience in a testing/R&D environment.
• Experience in a laboratory setting and with thermal-hydraulic analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply thermal-hydraulic analysis methods, including steady state and transient one-dimensional network analyses.
• Perform calculations using heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics principles.
• Analyze reactor operations under normal and upset conditions to define loadings and limits.
• Conduct multi-physics analyses involving sodium, molten salt, and non-condensable fluids.
• Collaborate with other engineering groups on design and testing work.
• Conduct code benchmarking/validation to support methodology development.
