Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Horsham, PA is seeking a Mechanical Thermal Engineer to develop Flotherm models from SolidWorks assemblies, assess detail levels for accurate simulations, and locate hotspot regions while evaluating margins in SMT components and optical packages.

You will collaborate with Electrical Engineers, perform lab validation on prototype hardware, export models for customers, and produce concise reports.

Qualifications

• Education should consist of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in thermal design/analysis or related field.

Responsibilities

• Possess a solid understanding of heat-transfer and thermal analysis & testing fundamentals.
• Create Flotherm thermal models based on the Design Engineer’s SolidWorks assemblies.
• Determine the appropriate level of detail required for accurate thermal simulation results.
• Perform Flotherm thermal simulations to identify hotspot locations and internal component margins.
• Analyze thermal gradients and reliability margins within SMT semiconductor and optical packages.
• Perform lab testing with prototype and production hardware to verify simulations.
• Export Flotherm models for customer use and respond to thermal performance questions.
• Review production data for temperature reporting accuracy and calibration factors.
