Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Thermal Design and Analysis Engineer at Level 3 or Level 4 to join our team onsite. You will develop, analyze, and test space hardware and support equipment across antennas, sensors, and electronic subsystems.

The role requires designing and analyzing thermal systems through all program phases, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Onsite work with TS/SCI options is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5 years of professional experience OR Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience OR PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with SCI access.
• Onsite daily work at the Linthicum, MD (Baltimore) facility.
• Working knowledge of thermal analysis software (IcePak, Sinda/Fluint, Thermal Desktop) or similar.
• Thermal design/analysis experience for spacecraft or avionics subsystem and/or payloads.

Responsibilities

• Performing steady state and transient thermal analyses of components, hardware, and assembly designs to evaluate thermal performance and margins.
• Creating system level thermal models of assemblies and detailed models of subassemblies and components.
• Understanding mechanical requirements and environments of space program hardware to ensure technical performance.
• Preparing material and presenting at internal program, customer, and supplier technical reviews.
• Provide technical guidance to programs and engineering teams in thermal activities and mentor junior engineers.
• Support design verification and test planning, troubleshoot integration issues, and execute thermal test campaigns.
