Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Thermal Systems Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join the Vehicle Engineering Directorate in the Western Region. The position is onsite in Redondo Beach, California, with a required active Top Secret clearance or SCI access at start.

You will develop thermal system requirements and lead analyses on spacecraft programs. The ideal candidate will mentor junior engineers, review designs, and collaborate with test teams and other disciplines to deliver robust thermal solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years of engineering experience; or Master’s with 3+ years; or PhD with 1+ year.
• Active Top Secret clearance or SCI access at time of application.
• Thermal design and/or analysis experience for spacecraft subsystems, payloads and directed energy systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in thermal testing, requirements derivation and verification, and advanced thermal materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop thermal-systems requirements.
• Perform thermal analyses to create and optimize thermal-control designs.
• Document thermal analyses and designs.
• Review and approve drawings for thermal-design hardware content.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with test engineering and other disciplines.
