Job summary

The Kasper Group, a leading apparel company in New York, seeks a Fabric Sourcing Specialist with a Textile Design degree to drive fabric development and supplier coordination. You will manage with vendors, maintain PLM records, and source swatches for market needs while ensuring precise documentation from initial adoption through pre-production phases.

Qualifications

• Must be very organized and detail oriented.
• Strong time management and ability to multi-task.
• Great aesthetic and brand understanding.
• Strong background in woven and knit construction and development.
• Degree in Textile Design.
• Minimum 3 years experience with fabric sourcing and development.
• Knowledge of MS Office.
• Knowledge of PLM and Photoshop preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research trends in the market and understand how to apply them to our price point.
• Meet with fabric vendors and attend trade shows
• Request FDS sheets and work with suppliers on prices, minimums, fabric width, and fabric content
• Keep PLM database system and related paperwork updated with current information
• Request swatches and source sub-proto yardage locally when necessary
• Keep precise and detailed records of all fabric developments from initial adoption through to pre-production
• Keep precise and detailed records of all wash developments from initial adoption through to pre-production
• Maintain Fabric library
• Miscellaneous organization, filing of fabrics, prints, color standard items.
• Work closely with Design team, Print Team, Corporate Textile team and our Hong Kong office.
• Assist in ordering all sample yardage for market
• Daily communication for all fabric follow up with the mills
• Cut 1/4 yd fabric cutting ref of all sample yardage received in house for our records/file with FDS
• Request all FDS from mills for ALL qualities sampled and save in corp Share folder
• Cut swatch of all sample yardage received and label with all fabric information for Design boards
• Assist designers in pulling yardage for sample cutting
• Keep sample yardage area neat and orderly every season
• Help organize fabric selections by mill/category upon receipt
