Job summary

Ursa Major in Denver, Colorado designs propulsion and defense systems and seeks a Senior Test Software Engineer to power automated test systems for FPGA-based electronics, embedded software, and avionics hardware used in mission-critical programs.

You will translate test requirements into automated software, build reusable architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve test coverage, reliability, and production readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience developing software for automated test systems.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C#, Python, C++, LabVIEW, or similar.
• Experience developing software that interfaces with electronic test instrumentation using standards such as VISA, GPIB, USB, Ethernet/LXI, Serial, or PXI.
• Experience using version control systems such as Git or Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software for automated test equipment (ATE) and HIL systems.
• Develop software to control laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, power supplies, etc.).
• Translate test requirements into automated software with repeatable, traceable results.
• Create reusable software architectures and libraries for multiple products.
• Develop operator interfaces, automated test sequences, data acquisition, and report generation.
• Integrate software with avionics hardware, FPGA designs, and embedded software.
• Support hardware integration, qualification testing and production acceptance.
• Troubleshoot issues and perform root-cause analysis; develop software documentation.
• Support version control and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve test efficiency and product quality.
