Job summary

Sun Life U.S. is seeking a Senior Operational Engineer to join the CCIO team. You will help modernize and support enterprise telephony platforms, including Microsoft Teams Telephony and Amazon Connect, in a regulated financial services environment.

Your role focuses on solution design, operational excellence, and AI-enabled modernization. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to design scalable cloud solutions, implement DevOps practices, and drive innovation

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or equivalent.
3-5 years of experience designing, delivering, and supporting cloud-based solutions.
2+ years supporting AWS services and enterprise telephony platforms (Amazon Connect / Teams Telephony).
Experience developing AWS Lambda solutions using Python.
Understanding of cloud architecture principles and AWS services.
Experience in regulated environments with security, privacy and risk management.
Knowledge of ITIL practices and incident/change management.
Experience with Agile and distributed teams.
Experience managing AWS environments and cloud infrastructure.
DevOps practices and tools including Terraform, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Ansible, CI/CD.
AI mindset and practical application of AI/automation.

Responsibilities

Plan, prioritize, and execute migration initiatives to modernize Financial Centres onto Microsoft Teams Telephony.
Collaborate with stakeholders to refine solutions and develop telephony and AI-enabled capabilities.
Support scalable, secure cloud-based solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
Develop High-Level Designs and detailed designs for telephony and cloud infra.
Support Amazon Connect and AWS services from an operational perspective.
Participate in Agile teams and contribute to DevOps practices and platform monitoring.
Identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and cloud-native services.
Provide SME guidance and mentoring to operations teams with documentation.
Create and maintain operational procedures and knowledge articles.
Evaluate emerging technologies for innovation and process improvements.
Participate in incident response, change management, and operational support.
