Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Cary, NC for the Marine Telematics Engineering team.

You will lead embedded C/C++ development on embedded Linux, building marine networking applications and services that transport data across Wi‑Fi, LTE, satellite, BLE, and CAN for remote vessel operations. You will guide technical direction, design reviews and project planning to enable high reliability systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree ... AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
• Excellent academics (GPA ≥ 3.0)
• Designed well-architected software systems to support new tech or improve capability/performance
• Demonstrated ability to lead a complex software project
• Ability to decompose requirements into well-defined tasks
• Able to perform peer technical assessments in areas of expertise
• Proficiency in C, C++, C# or Java with OO design knowledge
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Positive, detail-oriented, team-oriented and a driven problem solver

Responsibilities

• Lead software development in C/C++ on embedded Linux
• Develop marine embedded network-based applications and services
• Verify network application performance with testing protocols and data analysis
• May serve as Lead Software Engineer for complex designs/reviews
• Research problems and implement algorithm solutions
• Provide peer technical assessments on new technologies and designs
• Contribute to project planning and product development
