Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Telecommunications Engineer in Chicago to support SCADA projects for electrical utilities and generation facilities. The role emphasizes field commissioning and delivering design notes, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and network plans in coordination with project teams.

You will mentor junior staff, work with project managers to meet schedules, and ensure QA/QC compliance while building strong client relationships and preparing proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or related engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 3 years of utility telecommunications project or related experience; consulting preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to apply diverse knowledge to broad assignments and devise new approaches.
• EIT certification preferred; field commissioning experience is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Support design and commissioning of SCADA systems for utilities and generation facilities.
• Support telecommunications network design using client standards or developing new standards.
• Produce BOMs, specifications, wiring diagrams, device configurations, and network plans.
• Lead/guide less experienced staff; deliver on project schedules and QA/QC guidelines.
• Engage with clients to develop relationships and assist in proposals and presentations.
