Job summary

Entergy is seeking a Telecommunications Technician Senior to independently plan and coordinate complex tasks across telecom systems and network infrastructure. You will install, configure, and support diverse technologies while maintaining service quality and safety in a demanding environment.

The role requires extensive experience in IP networking, MPLS/TE, VLANs, and fiber/microwave transport, with leadership responsibilities and after-hours support.

Qualifications

• 1 year as Communications Serviceman 3rd Class or equivalent with required qualifications.
• 4+ years in at least two: voice, two-way radio, fiber, microwave, or power plant support.
• 2 years as Communications Serviceman 2nd Class or equivalent with required qualifications.
• 4+ years in at least three domains: two-way radio, fiber, microwave, power, IP networking, VLAN, MPLS-TE/TP, mesh networks or fiber transport.
• 4+ years in a telecommunications Technician role or equivalent.
• Strong foundation in electronics, IP networking, MPLS-TE/TP, PTP, SYNC-E, mesh networks; experience with AMI/DA and fiber transport.
• Must comply with safety policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provision and maintain telecom network circuits, fault isolation and resolution.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair telecom hardware and restore service during outages.
• Configure and support mesh networks and AMI/DA systems.
• Implement and troubleshoot IP networking using ISIS, BGP, OSPF.
• Implement MPLS-TE/TP, Private Line Ethernet and other networking.
• Operate advanced test equipment (Ethernet testers, RF meters, OTDRs).
• Install/test fiber optic and microwave systems including DWDM, SONET.
• Perform fiber splicing (armored underground, overhead ADSS, OPGW).
• Work on AC/DC power system installation and maintenance.
• Plan tasks with safety/efficiency; supervise/train team members.
• Respond to after-hours call-outs for urgent issues.
