Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a senior technical writer to develop and maintain technical publications for government contracts. This 100% remote US-based role requires clear communication, SME collaboration, and adherence to publication standards.

With 10+ years of professional experience, you will write manuals, reports, and briefs for diverse technical content, coordinate writers, and ensure quality across documents in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience developing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation, reports, manuals, procedures, process guides, proposals, and other business or technical publications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail, grammar, style, and document quality
• Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, user-friendly documentation
• Experience collaborating with SMEs, PgMs, engineers, and stakeholders to gather/validate information
• Proficiency with MS Office and document collaboration tools
• Ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of technical publication standards, document control, and style guides
• Experience supporting proposal development, government contracting, defense, engineering, technology, or professional services
• Familiarity with content management systems, document repositories, and workflow tools
• Experience with SOPs, training materials, or user guides

Responsibilities

• Write and update material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications
• Refine work of writers and coordinate activities of writers on technical material for publication
• Apply industry practices, techniques, and standards
• Translate concepts into clear documentation
• Develop solutions to moderate scope problems and coordinate with policies
• Contribute to organizational projects and goals
• Represent organization on specific projects
