Job summary

Textron Systems is hiring a Technical Writer III for its Electronic Systems Domain. The role focuses on independently developing and managing technical publications for installation, operation, and maintenance of complex systems. Collaboration with engineering and program teams will be essential, with guidance to junior writers.

The position emphasizes compliance, publication planning, and cross‑functional teamwork to deliver accurate manuals and training materials on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or 4–6 years equivalent work experience.
• Typically 2–4 years of technical writing experience in a technical, engineering, or defense environment.
• Demonstrated experience developing installation, operation, and maintenance procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Analyze engineering data and lead information extraction efforts, reviewing drawings, specs, test data, and system docs.
• Develop complete technical content packages including theory of operation and maintenance procedures.
• Lead editing, compliance checks, and publication execution to ensure readiness and Mil‑STD alignment.
• Coordinate and support internal and external review cycles, mentor junior writers, and ensure consistent quality across docs.
• Participate in IPT discussions regarding scope, configuration, and technical updates.
