Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Technical Writer II to support the development of technical manuals for Electronic Systems. You will work with engineering staff to create accurate, user‑focused documentation and perform edits to ensure compliance with specs and schedules.

The role involves creating content in MS Word and XML, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and contributing to IPT reviews to gather information for publication tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred or minimum 2-4 years equivalent work experience.
• Experience developing installation, operation, or maintenance procedures is a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently on assigned tasks with guidance.
• Ability to gather, analyze, and summarize data.
• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams including Program Management, Systems Engineering, Specialty Engineering, LPD, and Training.
• Active Secret Security Clearance preferred; ability to obtain required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with analysis of engineering data and drawings.
• Support development of technical manual content.
• Prepare and edit content in Word and in XML using WebX UltraAuthor or Arbortext.
• Edit for accuracy, formatting, and compliance with specifications.
