Textron Systems in Maryland seeks a Level II Technical Writer in the Electronic Systems domain. You will develop installation, operation, and maintenance procedures for complex ES equipment, under guidance from senior writers and engineers.

Responsibilities include analyzing data, collaborating with the LPD, producing content in MS Word and XML tools, and ensuring accuracy and compliance to standards. A degree or 2-4 years, strong communication, and cross-functional teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred or 2–4 years equivalent work experience.
• Experience developing installation, operation, or maintenance procedures is a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with guidance.
• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams including Program Management, Systems Engineering, Specialty Engineering, LPD, and Training.
• Active Secret Security Clearance preferred; ability to obtain required.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements.

Responsabilités

• Assist with analysis of engineering data and drawings.
• Review engineering and technical data to identify information needed for technical manual development.
• Collaborate with the LPD team to obtain procedural details and task analysis outputs.
• Develop assigned sections of technical manuals, including equipment descriptions, basic theory of operation, operator tasks, and maintenance procedures.
• Create content in MS Word for page-based manuals and in XML using WebX UltraAuthor, Arbortext, or EAGLE Publishing System as assigned.
• Prepare and edit technical illustrations with support from senior writers and CAD/illustration tools such as NX and Corel.
• Complete edits for accuracy, formatting, and compliance with applicable specifications and standards.
• Work closely with the Lead Writer to ensure tasks meet program requirements and timelines.
• Participate in IPT meetings to gather information relevant to publication tasks.
• Support in-process quality reviews, validation events, and customer review conferences by performing procedures and incorporating feedback.
• Coordinate with senior writers during review cycles to ensure accuracy and completeness of content.
