Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an experienced Training Specialist to oversee the design, development, implementation and delivery of technical education for employees. This role integrates human performance concepts, safety and corporate policies to empower current job responsibilities and career growth.

You will coordinate learning initiatives with management and corporate groups, lead curricula development for instructor-led and online courses, and manage records, budgets and assessments

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED required.
• Twelve (12) years' technical work experience OR six (6) years' experience as Training Specialist Senior.
• Valid driver's license and CDL.

Responsibilities

• Directs the development, communication and implementation of a learning strategy by conducting learning/training needs assessments.
• Oversees the scheduling and coordination of technical training and communicates the training calendar to management and staff.
• Lead the teaching, instructing, facilitation and evaluation of learning activities and assessments.
• Coordinates the design and development of technical curriculums, courses and training resources.
• Guides the research and selection of training resources and coordinates with vendors and OEMs.
• Maintain collaborative working relationships with management, employees, partners and vendors to develop and deliver training.
• Oversees the administration and proper maintenance of training records, budgets and reports; uses the AEP LMS to index courses.
