Job summary

Motive is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead embedded TPM programs spanning hardware, firmware, software, and operations from planning through launch.

You will partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to drive execution, manage risks, and establish clear operating mechanisms in a San Francisco hybrid work environment. Strong technical judgment and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering operations, product development, or a related field.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional technical programs involving multiple engineering disciplines and partner teams.
• Strong understanding of program planning, dependency management, risk mitigation, launch readiness, and product development processes.
• Ability to understand technical tradeoffs and use structured analysis to guide decisions without owning the underlying engineering design.
• Demonstrated success building consensus and driving execution across teams with competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting recommendations and status updates to leadership.
• Experience with program management tools and structured operating mechanisms for tracking milestones, owners, risks, dependencies, and decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end planning and execution for complex, cross-functional technical programs.
• Partner with hardware, firmware, software, product, operations, quality, supply chain, and external teams to align priorities and drive execution.
• Establish program plans, milestones, dependencies, deliverables, decision points, and success measures.
• Drive phase-gate reviews, launch-readiness assessments, and go/no-go decisions.
• Identify technical, operational, and schedule risks and develop mitigation plans with program stakeholders.
• Translate complex technical discussions into clear decisions, actions, tradeoffs, and escalation paths.
• Communicate program status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations clearly to team members and leadership.
• Improve cross-functional development processes, operating mechanisms, and program management practices.
