Physical Electronics seeks a Technical Sales Engineer to support complex, science-driven opportunities from early qualification through close. You will partner with Sales, applications scientists, product teams, and service to qualify opportunities, develop credible solutions, and support custom requests.

The role aims to bring technical clarity and speed to the sales process, with a focus on PHI technologies and competitive landscapes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in applications engineering, technical sales support, analytical instrumentation, or a similar technical environment.
• Strong understanding of ultra-high vacuum systems.
• Ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical solutions tied to customer needs and business outcomes.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to work effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
• Ability to contribute independently in a complex technical sales environment.

Responsibilities

• Qualify opportunities early with sales and define customer needs.
• Develop credible, solution-oriented configurations and narratives for customers.
• Review customer specifications and ensure compatibility of hardware and software.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing and product for feasible solutions.
• Support custom solution requests and document guidelines for future reuse.
• Engage in customer meetings to provide technical support when needed.
