GEICO is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager with a passion for working on complex Finance Technology programs across multiple departments and teams. You will be key in driving teams of engineers to deliver enterprise-wide products, supporting our transformation from traditional IT to a tech-driven organization focused on engineering excellence, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
This role involves planning, prioritizing, and leading implementations within the Finance Technology domain, collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to ensure timely, impactful project delivery. The ideal candidate will have deep project management expertise, working knowledge of Workday Financials, and a background in Financial Services, Accounting, or Corporate Finance. Experience in Insurance Technology is a plus.
Position Responsibilities
- Partner with sponsors, delivery teams, and stakeholders to deliver quality solutions on time and within budget.
- Create, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules, change control processes, and documentation.
- Coordinate with leadership to address dependencies, negotiate delivery milestones, and ensure on-time project completion.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, providing solutions and alternatives.
- Understand how requirements and design choices impact multiple systems.
- Report on project progress and key metrics, suggesting improvements.
- Apply operational and LEAN principles to streamline processes.
- Leverage financial industry experience and ERP knowledge (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, SAP).
- Coordinate activities across systems, departments, and teams.
- Use finance system expertise to support current and future needs.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
- Drive solutions using knowledge of finance, accounting, and management reporting.
- Collaborate with product managers and teams to solve complex problems.
- Report progress and metrics to leadership.
- Improve processes and share best practices.
- Analyze costs, forecast, and incorporate into business plans.
- Facilitate technical solution agreement among teams.
- Perform research and analysis to meet requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong program and project management skills with experience managing large-scale projects.
- Deep expertise in Finance domain and ERP systems.
- Working knowledge of Workday Financials.
- Understanding of accounting, management reporting, and cross-finance practices.
- Detail-oriented with organizational and analytical skills.
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Experience or certification in LEAN principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work with business leaders across technology and finance.
- Experience with continuous delivery and agile methodologies.
- Self-motivated, independent worker with cross-divisional coordination skills.
- Leadership qualities and conflict management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft ADO and SharePoint is highly recommended.
Experience
- 12+ years managing large-scale Finance Technology programs.
- 10+ years in Product or Project Management.
- 8+ years with leading ERP solutions (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, SAP).
- Excellent understanding of Agile - Scrum/Kanban.
- PMP or Scrum certification preferred.
Education
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Finance, or Accounting.
