Description

The Expert IT Project Manager (PM) is responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and motivating agile and hybrid project teams with a focus on achieving business results.

Job Requirements

Project Planning and Management: Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning and operational readiness for assigned projects. As a Senior or expert level, the PM may be responsible for complex, highly visible projects that require significant oversight.

Project Team Management: Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, remove roadblocks to their work; leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentor and develop team members; facilitate the efficient use of resources across multiple projects and monitor trends to ensure use aligns with strategic goals.

Product Owner Support: Support the Product Owner in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, stakeholder communications, and help with an effective system of project governance.

Communication and Documentation: Keep stakeholders informed, resolve issues, and maintain project documentation utilizing project management tools.

Leadership: Promote empowerment of the team, ensuring each member is fully engaged and understands how to motivate others to contribute meaningfully.

Vendor Management: Monitor and report on vendor performance metrics. Drive vendors' delivery against specific contract deliverables.

Skills Required

• Effective interpersonal skills including conflict management, listening, collaboration, and team building
• Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing demands
• Critical thinking for complex decision-making
• Deep understanding of business needs to establish/maintain high customer trust
• Proficiency with project management tools: Jira/Confluence, Workfront, Monday.com or equivalent, Microsoft Project, Visio, Office tools
• Excellent communication skills at all levels, including executive interactions
• Transparency in project progress, risks, and vendor performance
• Creative and analytical problem-solving abilities
• Ability to see the big picture and adapt to new technologies and systems
• Proactive project driving and leadership for business analysts, program managers, and teams

Required Credentials and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• At least 7 years of medium to large-scale project experience in project management or similar roles
• 7-10 years of experience in project/program planning and management processes

Preferred Credentials and Experience:

• Experience with blended methodologies at enterprise level
• Experience in the public sector, especially health and human services
• Organizational change management experience
