GEICO is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager with a passion for working on complex Finance Technology programs across multiple departments and teams. You will drive teams of engineers to deliver enterprise-wide products and support our transformation from traditional IT to a Tech organization focused on engineering excellence, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
This Senior Technical Project Manager is a key member of the Financial Technology team, collaborating across the organization to plan, prioritize, and lead implementations within the Finance Technology domain. You will work with stakeholders at various levels to ensure timely delivery of impactful projects. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in project management, working knowledge of Workday Financials, and a background in Financial Services, Accounting, or Corporate Finance. Experience in Insurance Technology is a plus.
Position Responsibilities
- Partner with project sponsors, delivery teams, and stakeholders to deliver quality solutions on time and within budget.
- Create, maintain, and actively manage detailed project schedules, change control processes, and documentation.
- Address project dependencies, negotiate delivery milestones, and ensure projects are completed on time.
- Identify and raise project risks, presenting solutions or alternatives.
- Understand how requirements and design choices impact systems across multiple areas.
- Report on project progress and key metrics, and suggest improvements.
- Leverage operational and LEAN practices to streamline processes.
- Coordinate project activities across systems, departments, and teams.
- Use your knowledge of Finance systems to support GEICO’s current and future needs.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
- Leverage experience with ERP systems like Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Hyperion, or SAP.
- Utilize your understanding of Finance, Accounting, and Management Reporting to drive solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, team members, and other engineering teams.
- Report on project and program progress, and present ideas for improvement.
- Perform process engineering and manage process improvements.
- Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.
- Analyze costs and forecasts, incorporating them into business plans.
- Facilitate agreement on technical solutions and resolve system design issues.
- Conduct ad hoc research and analysis to meet requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong program and project management skills with experience coordinating large-scale projects.
- Deep expertise in Finance domain to interpret requirements into system solutions.
- Working knowledge of Workday Financials.
- Understanding of accounting processes, management reporting, and cross-finance practices.
- Detail-oriented with organizational and analytical skills.
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience or certification in LEAN principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with continuous delivery and Agile methodologies.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proven leadership and conflict management skills.
- Experience with Microsoft ADO and SharePoint is highly recommended.
Experience
- 12+ years managing large-scale Finance Technology programs.
- 10+ years in Product or Project Management.
- 8+ years working with ERP solutions like Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, or SAP.
- Certified in PMP or Scrum methodologies.
Education
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
