GEICO is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager with a passion for working on complex Finance Technology programs across multiple departments and teams. You will drive teams of engineers to deliver enterprise-wide products and help transform our insurance business from a traditional IT model to a Tech organization focused on engineering excellence, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
This Senior Technical Project Manager is a key member of the Financial Technology team, working across the organization to plan, prioritize, and lead implementations within the Finance Technology domain. You will collaborate with stakeholders at various levels to ensure timely delivery of impactful projects. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in project management, working knowledge of Workday Financials, and a background in Financial Services, Accounting, or Corporate Finance. Experience in Insurance Technology is a plus.
Position Responsibilities
- Partner with project sponsors, delivery teams, and stakeholders to deliver quality solutions on time and within budget.
- Create, maintain, and actively manage detailed project schedules, change control processes, and documentation.
- Address project dependencies, negotiate and estimate delivery dates, and ensure projects are completed on time.
- Identify and escalate project risks, providing detailed and actionable solutions.
- Understand how requirements and design choices impact systems across multiple areas.
- Report on team progress and key metrics, and suggest improvements for product or project delivery.
- Leverage operational and LEAN principles to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
- Coordinate project activities across systems, departments, and teams.
- Utilize your knowledge of Finance systems to support current and future needs.
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
- Leverage experience with ERP systems like Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, or SAP.
- Utilize your understanding of Finance, Accounting, and Management Reporting to meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, customers, and engineering teams to solve complex problems.
- Work with leadership to address dependencies and project milestones.
- Identify and mitigate project risks with detailed solutions.
- Report on project progress and key metrics to leadership.
- Suggest and implement process improvements.
- Perform cost analysis and forecasting, integrating findings into business plans.
- Facilitate agreement on technical solutions and ensure timely resolution of design issues.
- Conduct research and analysis to meet requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong program and project management skills with experience in large-scale Finance Technology programs.
- Deep domain expertise in Finance to interpret requirements into system solutions.
- Working knowledge of Workday Financials.
- Understanding of accounting processes and management reporting.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience or certification in LEAN principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with continuous delivery methodologies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft ADO and SharePoint is highly recommended.
Experience
- 12+ years managing large-scale Finance Technology programs.
- 10+ years in Product or Project Management.
- 8+ years working with ERP solutions like Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, Hyperion, or SAP.
- Experience with Agile - Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
- PMP or Scrum certification preferred.
Education
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Finance, or Accounting.
