Job description

At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

Your Impact

Axon is a global leader in public safety technology, dedicated to protecting life and making communities safer. We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager II to own the delivery of highly complex, enterprise-grade platform programs that help our customers scale, operate efficiently, and achieve mission-critical outcomes.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager II at Axon, you will lead cross-functional programs that span product, engineering, software services, customer success, and public safety partners. You will bring structure to ambiguity, align technical execution with customer and business goals, and drive program outcomes across multiple teams and workstreams.

This role is ideal for a TPM who can operate at both strategic and execution levels: defining the path forward, surfacing tradeoffs, driving decisions, managing risk, and ensuring teams stay aligned through delivery. You will play a key role in scaling Axon’s platform impact while modeling our values of Aim Far, Own It, Join Forces, Expect Candor, Win Right, Be Obsessed, and Boldly Go. Axon publicly defines these values around long-term thinking, ownership, customer focus, integrity, teamwork, respectful candor, and embracing the unknown.

What You’ll Do

Location: This role is based out of our Seattle, WA office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation.

Reports to: Director of Technical Program Management

Direct Reports: None

  • Own delivery of highly complex, cross-functional technical programs that span multiple product, engineering, customer, and business teams.
  • Define program strategy, success metrics, operating mechanisms, milestones, dependencies, and escalation paths for enterprise-grade platform initiatives.
  • Manage multiple large-scale programs with accountability for scope, timelines, budget visibility, delivery risks, and customer readiness.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Software Services, Customer Success, and business leaders to align technical execution with customer needs and business priorities.
  • Lead planning across teams by translating ambiguous goals into clear workstreams, sequencing, ownership, and measurable outcomes.
  • Drive technical and business tradeoff discussions, ensuring decisions are made with the right context, urgency, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Identify, assess, and communicate program risks early; develop mitigation plans and decision options for senior leaders.
  • Lead program-level change management and adoption planning in partnership with client partners, customer stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Develop documentation and delivery artifacts that support implementation readiness, customer acceptance, adoption, and revenue recognition.
  • Facilitate program governance with internal and external stakeholders, including executive-level updates, decision forums, and delivery reviews.
  • Improve repeatable program management practices, templates, reporting mechanisms, and delivery processes across the TPM organization.
  • Mentor and support other TPMs by sharing best practices, strengthening execution discipline, and raising the bar for program delivery.
  • Deliver customer‑facing enablement, readiness sessions, or training when needed to support successful adoption of Axon solutions.
What You Bring
  • 7+ years of experience leading complex technical programs, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience owning large-scale enterprise software deployments, infrastructure programs, platform initiatives, or mission‑critical application rollouts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs across multiple teams, workstreams, and stakeholder groups without requiring direct reporting authority.
  • Experience defining program plans, success metrics, risk frameworks, governance models, and executive-level reporting mechanisms.
  • Ability to translate customer, product, and engineering needs into actionable program plans with clear milestones and ownership.
  • Experience managing dependencies, risks, tradeoffs, and escalations across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proficiency with technical project or program management tools used to track execution, dependencies, risks, decisions, and delivery outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, risks, timelines, and tradeoffs clearly to varied audiences, including senior leaders and customer stakeholders.
  • Experience improving program delivery processes, operating rhythms, or execution frameworks across teams.
  • Ability to guide teams through ambiguity by creating clarity, alignment, and accountable next steps.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Technical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
