Job summary

Knitwell Group in Times Square, NY, seeks a Senior Technical Designer to lead fit comments and manage the sample development process for a women’s apparel category. You will generate computerized spec packages and coordinate with production, design, and merchandising to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

The role requires 10+ years in technical design within fashion, strong patternmaking and construction expertise, and ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• 10+ years Technical Design experience in women’s apparel or fashion leaders.
• Degree preferred in MS, BS in Clothing or Textiles, AA/AAS or Certification in Apparel Manufacturing, Design or Patternmaking.
• Expertise with patternmaking, fit, grading, garment construction, production, and manufacturing methods across a single product category.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments with cross functional and external partners.
• Problem solve and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects.
• Proficient in MS Office and design software (Illustrator, PLM).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally if required.

Responsibilities

• Attends fittings and relevant departmental meetings.
• Manages the sample development process and executes fit comments.
• Generates computerized specification packages and maintains them through fit approval.
• Collaborates with production, product development, design and merchandising to ensure quality and delivery.
• Maintains collaborative relationships and upholds company values.
• Follows cross-functional calendar and meets seasonal deadlines.
• Travels to Sourcing and Vendor Development offices or factories as needed.
• Represents department in cross-functional initiatives.
• Fosters open communication and team environment with business partners.
