Job summary

Niyam IT, Inc. seeks a Principal Technical Architect to lead technical architecture across federal programs, starting with clients in Northern VA.

You will guide full-stack and AI-enabled solutions, mentor engineers, and shape technical strategy within a hybrid on-site role that blends cloud CI/CD, DevSecOps, and cross-program delivery. Qualifications

• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) Clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (equivalent experience considered).
• Available to work onsite in Northern VA.
• 10+ years of professional full stack software development experience across frontend, backend, and API layers.
• Experience with two or more: Flutter, Angular (2+), Spring Boot, Java, Python (Django), JavaScript/TypeScript, Dart, iOS (Swift), Android.
• Experience integrating AI/ML into production apps (chatbots, AI-powered features, AI-assisted dev pipelines).
• Familiarity with relational DBs (PostgreSQL, Oracle SQL) and RESTful/SOAP APIs in multi-system env.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, Kubernetes, and automated testing (e.g., Selenium).
• Familiarity with federal software delivery standards, DevSecOps, and IT security basics.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture, design, and delivery of scalable, secure software solutions.
• Define and uphold architecture standards, patterns, and governance across teams.
• Design and implement web, mobile, cloud, API, and AI-enabled solutions, including system integrations.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through SDLC, code reviews, mentoring, and problem-solving.
• Drive adoption of AI/ML, modern tools, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automation, and IaC practices.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, security, platform, and operations teams using Agile methodologies.
• Ensure security, scalability, reliability, performance, accessibility, and operational readiness; manage technical debt.
• Create and maintain technical docs, architecture decisions, and roadmaps; communicate risks and trade-offs.
• Promote continuous improvement through innovation, PoCs, and coaching on architecture and best practices.
