Job summary

Bloomberg Industry Group is seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager to own the technical product strategy and long-term roadmap for our search platform and related services. You will partner with Engineering leadership to shape architecture and deliver scalable, high-impact search capabilities that improve quality and outcomes.

This is a high-leverage, cross-functional role spanning product, data, engineering, and business units.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years building technology-powered products with at least 3 years owning technical or platform execution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong understanding of modern software architectures, APIs, cloud-based and distributed systems.
• Ability to influence architecture-level decisions and navigate trade-offs with senior engineers.
• Data-driven decision making using metrics, telemetry, and logs.
• Experience producing clear technical requirements and user stories.
• Proficiency in Agile, CI/CD, observability, and reliability practices.
• Familiarity with security/compliance considerations in production systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the technical product strategy and long-term roadmap for the search platform.
• Define priorities to improve information retrieval quality, performance, and relevance.
• Translate business goals into testable technical requirements and success metrics.
• Partner with Engineering on architecture, system design, and scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical vision with business needs.
• Incorporate end-user insights into search platform decisions.
• Operate in Agile, refining milestones, risks, and delivery plans.
• Use data and experimentation to evaluate performance and guide optimizations.
• Invest in scalability, reliability, and reducing technical debt for long-term health.
• Evaluate build vs. buy vs. modernize options for key capabilities.
• Ensure search services meet security, compliance, and operational standards.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and support growth of other Product Managers and Technical PMs.
