Job summary

Whitley Penn, one of the nation’s leading audit, tax, and advisory firms, seeks a Senior Tax Manager to join our team in Austin. The Senior Manager serves as a liaison between partners, clients, and staff, manages multiple tax engagements, and drives client relationships and revenue opportunities.

You will review returns (1065, 1040, 1120, 1120S), develop service plans with the team, guide tax examinations, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in public accounting.
• Active CPA license.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between the partner, the client, and the professional staff.
• Manage multiple tax returns and client engagements; monitor engagement economics and workflow.
• Review and/or prepare tax returns (1065, 1040, 1120, 1120S) and quarterly estimates.
• Develop client service plans for engagements in collaboration with the team.
• Manage high-risk situations with QC involvement as applicable.
• Identify and research technical issues to ensure compliance with tax laws at federal, state, and local levels.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting

Master’s degree preferred
