Job summary

Nash County is seeking a Clerical/Customer Service Specialist to assist with tax listing, billing, and collections and to maintain accurate tax records. You will perform data entry, process tax payments, and ensure accurate calculations under supervision.

The position requires good communication, cash handling, and the ability to work with the public. You will provide friendly service by phone and in person, respond to inquiries about listings and valuations, and support staff as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1 year customer service experience.
• Ability to handle money and perform standard mathematical calculations.
• Experience with data entry and basic office equipment.
• Knowledge of state/local tax procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by phone and in person for tax listings and property records.
• Review forms, correct errors, assist with listing property, and process changes.
• Enter data into tax listing databases and maintain property situs and values.
• Receive, post, and balance tax payments; provide receipts and assist with bank deposits.
• Perform clerical tasks and support office functions; assist taxpayers and respond to inquiries.
• Back up other staff and train new employees if requested.
