Job summary

Empirical Wealth Management in Seattle is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join our tax practice. This role focusses on technical tax work, collaborative planning, and direct client service.

You will lead and review returns, mentor junior staff, and assist in proactive tax planning. CPA/JD with 2–5 years in public accounting is expected, with exposure to tax software and research tools.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of public accounting experience with a taxation focus
• CPA eligible or JD required; Master's in taxation preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with tax software and research tools

Responsibilities

• Provide initial tax preparation support, including information gathering, workpaper creation, data entry, and first-draft return preparation
• Review returns and selected projects prepared by Tax Associates and interns
• Assist in training and mentoring junior team members
• Prepare tax projections and provide proactive tax planning recommendations
• Prepare responses to IRS and state tax notices and correspondence
• Collaborate with the advisory team on tax planning matters and client service initiatives
• Communicate with clients by phone and email and participate in client meetings as needed
• Conduct tax research and provide support on technical projects and planning matters
