Job summary

Empirical Wealth Management seeks a Tax Manager to lead tax compliance and planning for a diverse client base in a dynamic firm. The role focuses on sign-off of returns, tax projections, and collaboration with advisory teams in a fast-growing practice.

Expect hands-on leadership and client relationship growth in a CA setting. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in public accounting, CPA or JD, and proficiency with major tax software.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience with an extensive background in taxation.
• CPA or JD required; Master’s in taxation preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements and projects.
• Proficiency in or ability to adapt quickly to new tax software and research tools.

Responsibilities

• Review and sign off on federal and state tax returns for individuals, trusts, estates, non-profits, corporations, and partnerships.
• Manage existing and build new client relationships.
• Oversee tax planning strategies for clients and run tax projections.
• Prepare internal memos, written tax guidance, and correspond with IRS and state tax authorities.
• Support and collaborate with the advisory team on tax planning related functions.
• Manage workflow, budgets, and billings.
• Evaluate and develop processes and procedures to improve tax department efficiency.
