Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Tax Advisor to prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients, including individuals and businesses. You will conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and provide personalized recommendations.

In this in-person role, you will build lasting client relationships, identify tax savings opportunities, and deliver empathetic, consultative service. The position includes training, competitive pay, and an incentive plan.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns, including tax planning
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain tax concepts clearly
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients, including individual and business returns
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and provide personalized recommendations
• Build year-round client relationships and identify tax savings opportunities and Block Advisors products
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment
