Job summary

Hawaiian Electric Companies in Kahului – Maui is seeking a PROFESSIONAL T&D Designer/Sr. Designer to support large customer service requests and capital projects.

Under direction, you will design, review, and manage electrical designs in accordance with NEC, EUSERC, and company standards. Ideal candidates have 10+ years in utility design or a BS in engineering with equivalent experience, plus strong collaboration with city, state, and regulators.

Qualifications

• 5+ years relevant engineering experience.
• Knowledge of the Tariff, Electric Service Installation Manual, EUSERC, NESC and 3rd party attachments.
• LEAN and SafeStart principles desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical designs and standards.
• Driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Design, project engineering, and project management for large customer service requests and capital projects.
• Review and approve customer plans for conformance with NEC and company standards.
• Develop schedules and cost estimates for capital budgets.
• Coordinate with City/County, State and Federal agencies on rules and permits.
• Prepare reports and assist with engineering studies and consultations.
• Direct design efforts by consultants and evaluate proposals.
