Job summary

Hawaiian Electric in Kahului—Maui is seeking a T&D Designer / Senior Designer to drive design and project engineering for major capital projects and to coordinate with City/County, State, and Federal agencies. The role emphasizes delivering compliant electrical designs for complex service requests and 3rd party attachments.

The position requires extensive experience in power engineering, strong leadership, and the ability to manage schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Requires 5+ years in power engineering design, project engineering, and related fields.
• Understanding of tariffs, EUSERC, NEC, and related processes for 3rd party attachments.
• Able to read and interpret electrical plans and standards.
• Experience with project budgeting, schedules, and bid-based procurement.
• Ability to collaborate with City/County, State, and Federal agencies.

Responsibilities

• Design and supervise electrical design work and project engineering for large customer service requests and capital programs.
• Prepare plans, calculations, and design documentation per standards and codes.
• Manage projects, schedules, and budgets, and evaluate proposals from consultants.
• Serve as technical consultant to planners/designers and assist with regulatory compliance.
• Conduct field inspections and verify conformity to specifications.
