Job summary

Genentech's Cell Therapy group within gRED seeks a scientist to help develop novel cell therapies for intractable diseases. You will culture and engineer primary T cells, apply multiparameter flow cytometry to profile identity and function, and evaluate engineered cells with diverse assays.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, DVM or equivalent degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience with primary T cell isolation, activation, culture, expansion and phenotypic characterization.
• Deep knowledge of T cell biology, including development, differentiation, effector function, exhaustion, memory and survival.
• Advanced experience in multiparameter flow cytometry, including panel design, controls, assay optimization, data analysis and interpretation.
• Experience engineering primary immune cells using viral and non-viral gene delivery methods.
• Experience developing and executing cell-based functional assays relevant to T cell biology or cell therapy.

Responsibilities

• Culture and engineer primary T cells and other relevant cell types.
• Develop and apply multiparameter flow cytometry assays to characterize T cell identity and function.
• Evaluate engineered T cells using phenotypic and functional assays including proliferation and cytokine production.
• Analyze complex datasets, draw conclusions and guide experimental strategy.
• Collaborate with research, translational, computational and process development teams.
• Maintain comprehensive records and communicate findings through reports and presentations.
