Job summary

Genentech is seeking a Principal Scientist, Lab Head to lead a research group focused on designing next-generation cell therapies for autoimmune diseases. You will guide a productive team, integrating across cross-functional groups to identify targets and advance therapeutics from preclinical to early clinical development.

A PhD with postdoctoral training and a strong record in cellular immunology is expected.

Qualifications

PhD and postdoctoral training in Immunology, Cell Biology or related field.
Minimum of 5 years post-PhD experience with high-impact publications (preprints considered), patents, and/or a track record advancing therapeutic candidates.
Demonstrated expertise in cellular immunology and pathways contributing to autoimmune disease.
Outstanding leadership and collaborative spirit with multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for multidisciplinary audiences.
Strong critical thinking, rigorous experimental design and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a highly productive research team.
Generate high-quality, original research to advance understanding of autoimmune disease.
Advance pipeline projects from preclinical studies toward early clinical development.
