Job summary

Genentech in San Francisco, CA seeks a Senior Principal Scientist to lead the bioanalytical strategy for our Cell Therapy portfolio. You will define integrated data strategies and collaborate with Bioanalytical Sciences, Research, Translational Medicine, Clinical Development, CMC, Regulatory, and Computational Sciences to address key scientific questions.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Bioanalytical Sciences, or related life sciences discipline with 7+ years in drug discovery or development in biopharma.
• Direct experience supporting cell therapy product development (CAR-T, TCR-T, TILs, iPSC-derived, gene-edited cells) is preferred.
• Strong ability to translate bioanalytical data into scientific insights to inform development and portfolio decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the bioanalytical strategy for the Cell Therapy portfolio and harmonize strategies across programs.
• Identify and evolve key scientific questions for in vivo fate, cellular expansion, persistence, trafficking, biodistribution, phenotypic evolution, and immunogenicity.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to develop integrated strategies and ensure fit-for-purpose analyses across development.
• Build partnerships across Research, Translational Medicine, Development Sciences, Clinical, CMC, Regulatory, and Computational Sciences.
• Harmonize approaches, leverage shared assays and data, and establish portfolio-wide best practices.
• Lead cross-program data interpretation and accelerate portfolio learning for current and future modalities.
• Translate emerging questions into evidence-generation strategies and guide analytical approaches and data interpretation across programs.
• Evaluate advancing scientific/tech advances and guide incorporation of innovative bioanalytical approaches.
• Represent Bioanalytical Sciences on governance teams and external collaborations; mentor scientists across the organization.
