Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Systems Security Engineering Section Lead (M4) to lead a dynamic SSE team onsite in Massachusetts. The role focuses on shaping cyber-resilient systems, enforcing RMF controls, and guiding security across defense programs.

Active Secret clearance and DoD citizenship are required. The SSE Lead will mentor engineers, collaborate with PMs and IPTLs, and engage with customers to define requirements, evaluate solutions, and communicate security implications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) required.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required prior to start date; U.S. citizenship required.
• Experience in System Security Engineering and/or Cybersecurity Engineering.
• Experience with the NIST RMF.

Responsibilities

• Lead the System Security Engineering Section and guide staff development and career planning.
• Translate strategy into actionable direction for SSE staff and higher-level leaders.
• Oversee workforce planning to ensure talent aligns with programs.
• Manage tasking and ensure section members’ success and growth.
• Drive hiring excellence: shape requisitions, review resumes, interview candidates, participate in hiring events, and onboard new hires.
• Collaborate with HR on personnel matters and with Program Managers to align execution with business goals.
• Engage with customers to define SSE requirements, evaluate solutions, and communicate cost, impact, and security effectiveness.
• Lead planning, estimation, execution oversight, tracking, reporting and risk management.
• Ensure robust compliance with NIST RMF controls and security engineering best practices.
• Provide architecture guidance on SSE approaches and challenges across programs.
