Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Performance Engineer to optimize memory and storage performance in data center systems.

You will examine AI, database, virtualization, and distributed-storage workloads, tracing I/O paths and identifying bottlenecks to drive improvements. You will work with SSD architects and customer teams in a hands-on, individual-contributor role, deploying software tools and writing analyses to inform engineering decisions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or related field required, with 3+ years of experience; Master’s with >1 year acceptable.
Experience in systems performance, benchmarking, or workload characterization.
Hands-on experience deploying and debugging applications on Linux; strong storage I/O knowledge.
Familiarity with performance-analysis tools and Python or similar for investigation and automation.

Responsibilities

Conduct repeatable studies of AI, databases, virtualization, or distributed-storage workloads on production-class systems.
Plan tests with clear hypotheses, configurations, and controls.
Trace I/O from applications to SSD, measuring efficiency, latency, and power.
Identify bottlenecks; test SSD features, architectures, and competing solutions; provide recommendations.
Develop test automation and analysis tools; share findings via reports and customer material.
