Job summary

Micron Technology in the United States is seeking a Senior Systems Performance Engineer to join the Data Center Workload Engineering team. You will identify and improve the performance of memory and storage products in data center systems, collaborating with SSD architects and customer teams in a hands-on, individual-contributor role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field plus 3+ years experience, or Master's with 1+ year.
• Hands-on Linux deployment and debugging experience.
• Understanding of storage I/O path (Linux I/O, FS, block storage, NVMe, PCIe).
• Proficiency with performance-analysis tools and Python or similar.

Responsibilities

• Conduct repeatable studies of AI, database, virtualization, or distributed-storage workloads on production-class systems.
• Plan tests with hypotheses, realistic configurations and proper controls.
• Trace I/O through the system to the SSD, measuring latency, scaling, and power.
• Identify bottlenecks and test SSD features and system architectures; provide data-backed recommendations.
• Develop test automation and analysis tools and share findings via reports and customer materials.
