Job summary

GEM Technologies is seeking a Senior Systems & Infrastructure Engineer to own complex infrastructure incidents across client environments, including Windows Server, AD, DNS/DHCP, and Microsoft 365. The role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, cross‑domain collaboration, and direct client interaction.

You will work across VMware/Hyper‑V virtualized environments, manage networking and security components, and contribute to disaster recovery, migrations, and modernization projects.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience supporting production IT infrastructure and resolving complex problems.
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Identity, MFA, Conditional Access).
• Ability to troubleshoot virtualization environments (VMware/Hyper‑V).
• Experience with networking, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, routing and switching.
• Experience with backup, disaster recovery and business continuity systems.
• Ability to plan migrations, upgrades and modernization projects.
• Strong communication with clients and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own investigation and resolution of complex infrastructure incidents and escalations.
• Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP.
• Support Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments, including identity and MFA.
• Troubleshoot virtualization environments (VMware/Hyper‑V).
• Diagnose networking issues (firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, routing, switching).
• Support backup, DR and business continuity systems.
• Plan and execute migrations, upgrades and modernization projects.
• Create and maintain documentation.
• Work with clients, vendors and GEM engineers on projects and incidents.
• Occasional onsite client support in the NYC metro area.
