Job summary

GEM Technologies is seeking a Senior Systems & Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems and taking ownership from diagnosis through resolution across multiple client environments. This hands-on role focuses on Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, networking and security, with occasional on-site visits in the New York City area and a largely remote schedule.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience supporting production IT infrastructure.
• Ability to troubleshoot across multiple technologies and own issue resolution.
• Experience communicating with both technical and nontechnical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own the investigation and resolution of complex infrastructure incidents and escalations.
• Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
• Support Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments, including identity, authentication, MFA and Conditional Access.
• Troubleshoot and support virtualization environments using VMware and/or Hyper-V.
• Diagnose networking issues involving firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, routing, switching and connectivity.
• Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity systems.
• Plan and execute infrastructure migrations, upgrades and modernization projects.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement changes to prevent recurrence.
• Use PowerShell, scripting, automation and other tools to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Work with clients, vendors and GEM engineers during projects and incidents.
• Provide occasional onsite support in the New York City metropolitan area.
