Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Manager Systems Engineering 2 in California (San Diego, Palmdale, or El Segundo). The role blends 85% technical SOW and 15% functional homeroom management, with oversight of 8–15 engineers.

Requires Top Secret clearance, a STEM degree (BS with 9 yrs or MS with 7 yrs). Location options include San Diego/Palmdale/El Segundo with growth in innovation and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 9 years of combined technical and management experience, or Master's Degree with 7 years of combined experience.
• Experience in Requirements and Verification, Operations Analysis, Modeling and Simulation, Systems Analysis, System Architecture, Mission Integration or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience leading an engineering team or project.
• Active USG Top Secret clearance (with BI within 5 years or Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to obtain initial SAP/PAR access prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a section of 8-15 systems engineers.
• Hire, develop, train, and retain section talent (university and experienced hires).
• Provide leadership and manage performance; engage high performers and address low performers.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and resource balancing across programs.
• Promote professional development and foster collaboration, inclusion, affordability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Provide clear assignments and connect team efforts to the bigger picture.
