Job summary

AV in the United States is seeking a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to collaborate with the Design Team on Uncrewed Systems for defense and commercial applications, allocating requirements and shaping system architecture and tests to meet customer needs.

You will work with Design Engineers to allocate requirements, guide architecture, develop tests, and participate across stages from concept to verification. The role demands senior expertise in flight testing, C/C++, MATLAB, and team leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering/math field.
• 12–15 years of systems engineering or design experience.
• Experience as a systems architect influencing overall design.
• Flight test execution experience and standardization of processes.
• Experience in requirements allocation and traceability across the system.

Responsibilities

• Support system architecture, design, and test of Uncrewed Systems with the lead engineers.
• Manage requirements traceability and evolution through the development cycle.
• Provide weekly status updates with requirements burndown.
• Allocate requirements down to subsystems and establish traceability.
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition.
• Contribute to model development, simulation analysis, and review specs.
• Identify and resolve design weaknesses; influence future product architecture.
• Lead or coordinate activities of team members on new assignments.
• Analyze data against criteria and determine root causes of failures.
