Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, seeks a Platform Systems Engineer for SOA helicopter programs in Cedar Rapids. You will lead systems engineering activities, develop design artifacts, and conduct lab testing across cockpit avionics.

The role requires onsite presence and collaboration with program chiefs and architects. Ideal candidates have a STEM degree with extensive Systems Engineering experience, familiarity with DOORS/JIRA/PREP, and willingness to travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• STEM degree with 5+ years of experience, or advanced degree with 3+ years, or 9 years if no degree.
• Experience in a Systems Engineering role is required.
• Ability to be onsite in Cedar Rapids for test events and test environment updates.
• Domestic travel and possible international travel <10% of the year.

Responsibilities

• Perform Platform Systems Engineering activities for SOA helicopter programs, including design artifacts, test procedures, and lab testing.
• Complete avionics solutions across cockpit avionics for SOA programs.
• Navigate bids and pursuits following Collins processes for SOA programs.
• Lead customer discussions with program chiefs and architects.
• Design system solutions to integrate Collins Aerospace products in complex upgrade programs.
• Mentor other engineers in the Platform Systems team and department.
• Travel up to 10% as needed.

Here, you will play a crucial role in developing and testing avionics for Special Operations Aviation (SOA) programs. This dynamic position offers flexibility to push the boundaries of technology, enhancing the capabilities of military helicopter platforms.This role requires a highly motivated person to help lead the charge for is exciting team.

What You Will Do

• You will perform Platform Systems Engineering (PSE) activities for the SOA helicopter programs, including creation of design artifacts and decisions, execution of test procedures, testing the systems out in the lab, etc. Tools used are DOORS, JIRA, PREP, Microsoft, SVN and others.
• You will complete work for avionics solutions across the cockpit avionics for the Special Operations Aviation (SOA) programs.
• You will navigate through the bids & pursuits, adhering to Collins Processes for the SOA programs.
• You will lead customer discussions alongside the program chiefs & architects.
• You will design system solutions, ensuring the integration of Collins Aerospace products into complex upgrade programs working with other military helicopter programs.
• You will provide mentorship to other engineers within the Platform Systems team and others in the department.
• Up to 10% of travel as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Experience within a Systems Engineering role.
• Ability to be onsite in Cedar Rapids for test events and test environment updates.
• Travel (domestic-US, and possible International) is possible of this position, estimating <10% of the year.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Collins Aerospace’s Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) experience.
• Experience with DARs.
• Experience doing bids & pursuit.
• Experience with TNT, DOORS, PREP, JIRA and/or Microsoft Office Suite is desired.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
