Job summary

RTX’s Collins Aerospace unit seeks a seasoned Platform Systems Engineer to lead PSE activities for SOA helicopter programs, crafting design artifacts, executing tests, and guiding system integration with cockpit avionics.

You will mentor engineers, participate in bids and customer discussions, and travel up to 10% as needed, contributing to complex upgrade programs and collaboration with program chiefs and architects.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Experience within a Systems Engineering role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Platform Systems Engineering (PSE) activities for SOA helicopter programs, including design artifacts and decisions, test procedures, and lab testing.
  • Complete avionics solutions across cockpit systems for SOA programs.
  • Lead bids & pursuits, adhering to Collins Processes for SOA programs.
  • Lead customer discussions alongside program chiefs & architects.
  • Design system solutions ensuring integration of Collins Aerospace products into complex upgrades.
  • Provide mentorship to other engineers within the Platform Systems team.
  • Up to 10% travel as needed.

What You Will Do:
  • You will perform Platform Systems Engineering (PSE) activities for the SOA helicopter programs, including creation of design artifacts and decisions, execution of test procedures, testing the systems out in the lab, etc. Tools used are DOORS, JIRA, PREP, Microsoft, SVN and others.
  • You will complete work for avionics solutions across the cockpit avionics for the Special Operations Aviation (SOA) programs.
  • You will navigate through the bids & pursuits, adhering to Collins Processes for the SOA programs.
  • You will lead customer discussions alongside the program chiefs & architects.
  • You will design system solutions, ensuring the integration of Collins Aerospace products into complex upgrade programs working with other military helicopter programs.
  • You will provide mentorship to other engineers within the Platform Systems team and others in the department.
  • Up to 10% of travel as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Ability to obtain a US Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance.
  • Collins Aerospace’s Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) experience.
  • Experience with DARs.
  • Experience doing bids & pursuit.
  • Experience with TNT, DOORS, PREP, JIRA and/or Microsoft Office Suite is desired.

Onsite

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
